What is Platelet rich plasma?
Platelet rich plasma treatments use your body’s own cells, called platelets, to stimulate the skins stem cells to increase production of collagen, elastin, and blood vessels, in turn providing a refreshed rejuvenated looking skin, and helps reverse the signs of ageing.
Platelet rich plasma provides improvements in fine wrinkles, skin tone and texture. A tighter, plump more youthful appearing skin...and it’s all natural. Platelet rich plasma is widely used in many medical specialties, not just aesthetic medicine, such as gynaecology (check out the world-famous O-shot) sports medicine, orthopaedics, and reconstructive surgery.

What is involved in the Treatment?
After a discussion of your concerns and a full skin and facial assessment performed by your Coastal Goddess practitioner, a treatment plan will be tailored to meet your needs. Pre-treatment photos will be taken, and consent obtained.
Platelet rich plasma treatment can be uncomfortable. There are several options for pain management during treatment, including local anaesthetic, topical numbing cream, ice, or Entonox gas.
The appointment takes 45 mins -1 hr. Blood is taken from your arm, by our Coastal Goddess doctor, similar to a standard blood test. This blood is then processed in a centrifuge, to separate the different components of your blood. Platelets and plasma are extracted and injected into the deeper layers of your skin.
3 treatments required for best results, 1 month apart, but can have effects lasting up to 18 months.
Platelet rich plasma is a gradual treatment, so results won’t be evident immediately, as with other aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers.
After care

No make up for 24 hrs

No strenuous exercise for 24 hours

No laser or peel treatments to the area for 2 weeks

Apply sunscreen to protect newly rejuvenated skin
Potential Risks and Contra-indications
With any medical procedure there are always risks and contra-indications. These will be discussed with your doctor prior to treatment. However, as Platelet rich plasma is autologous, using your own blood cells, potential side effects are greatly reduced.
