Dr Kelly Needham, Local Women’s Health Specialist and Cervical Cancer Survivor, Brings
The M Factor Documentary to the Central Coast.
We are excited to announce that The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause will have one of few exclusive Australian screenings at Avoca Beach Theatre on Sunday, 1 December 2024, at 2:00 pm. This screening marks one of the first and only opportunities to experience this groundbreaking documentary in Australia.
The M Factor confronts the overlooked menopause crisis, challenging both societal and medical failures, and advocating for a radical shift in how women’s health is approached during this pivotal life stage. This documentary aims to empower women to seek the healthcare they deserve, bringing attention to a topic that has too long been brushed under the rug.
Dr Kelly Needham, a local women’s health doctor and Founder of The M Clinic—a new perimenopause and menopause clinic on the Central Coast—is proud to host this special screening for the local community.
“We are thrilled to offer this exclusive opportunity for Australian audiences to see The M Factor,” Dr Needham said. “This screening is one of the very first in Australia, and we are excited to bring it to the Central Coast to help raise awareness and start important conversations about menopause.”
Dr. Needham, who has worked closely with women facing menopause and perimenopause, explains that menopause is still often overlooked in both medical and social spheres.
“Menopause has been shrouded in silence for far too long. For many women, it's an isolating experience—one that is largely invisible to society,” she said.
“The emotional and physical symptoms can be overwhelming, but because it’s a topic that’s so often swept under the rug, many women suffer in silence, not knowing where to turn for support.”
Dr. Needham believes that greater awareness and open conversation are essential to helping women get the care they deserve.
“There is a huge need to address how menopause impacts women’s health, careers, relationships, and overall wellbeing,” she said.
“Many women are going through this major life transition without the proper support. They are told it’s just ‘part of getting older’ or that they just need to ‘push through it’. This film highlights the voices of those who have been neglected by society and the medical community, and it’s time we start changing that narrative.”
Dr Needham, who recently attended the 19th International World Congress on Menopause in Melbourne, will also be sharing the latest insights and research gained from the event with her patients and community. As an advocate for women’s health, Dr Needham is committed to raising awareness and providing support for women experiencing menopause and perimenopause.
“By hosting this screening, I hope to empower women to speak up, seek the right support, and understand that they are not alone in this journey,” Dr Needham said.
“We need to ensure that no woman has to suffer quietly or feel like her experience is invisible.”
