Hello Goddesses,
If we haven’t come across each other before, or if you’re new to our channel or clinic, I am Dr. Kelly Needham, the founder and owner of Coastal Goddess, a clinic dedicated to providing aesthetic and intimate health care for women of all ages.
The Download with Dr Kelly is a platform that I’ve created to cover topics that matter to me, and to you, on a monthly basis. It gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge in a quick way. As I’m working around the clock between the clinic and the hospital, I rarely have a chance to sit down with patients to talk about the things that really matter.
The Download also offers me the chance to share a bit about myself, so hopefully when you become a patient of ours, you’ll feel comfortable with knowing who I am.
Today, I’m writing to you not only as a doctor, but also as a survivor of cervical cancer. My journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery has deeply impacted my life and has fueled my passion for advocating for women’s health, especially in the realm of gynecological cancers.
A little over twelve months ago, I received the life-changing diagnosis of cervical cancer. As a physician, I was well aware of the statistics, the treatment protocols, and the prognosis. Yet, nothing truly prepares you for the personal experience of facing cancer. The journey was arduous, filled with moments of fear, uncertainty, and, ultimately, hope.
Throughout my treatment journey, I was surrounded by an incredible team of medical professionals, family, and friends who supported me every step of the way. Their unwavering support was instrumental in my recovery, and it’s a debt I feel deeply grateful for every day.
My experience highlighted the critical need for ongoing research and funding in the fight against gynecological cancers. While we have made significant strides in understanding and treating these diseases, there is still so much work to be done. Research is the key to developing better diagnostic tools, more effective treatments, and ultimately, finding a cure.
This is where WomenCan comes in. WomenCan is an organisation dedicated to raising funds for research into gynecological cancers, including ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. Their work supports groundbreaking research projects, clinical trials, and the development of new therapies that offer hope to countless women and their families. It was kind of fortuitous that I was already a contributor to the organisation before my diagnosis!
To support this vital cause, I am thrilled to announce that Coastal Goddess is hosting its third year of our Annual Ladies Lunch, a fundraising lunch that we run in partnership with and for WomenCan.
This event is not just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of strength, resilience, and community. It’s an opportunity for us to come together, share our stories, and support the crucial work being done to combat gynecological cancers. Join us for an afternoon of inspiring stories, delicious food, and meaningful connections. Your presence alone will be a powerful statement of solidarity and support.
As a survivor, I understand the profound impact that research and support can have on a person’s life. This fundraising lunch is not just an event; it’s a beacon of hope for all women who are battling gynecological cancers. By coming together, we can make a real difference and bring us closer to a future where no woman must face these cancers alone.
Thank you for your unwavering support and generosity. You can purchase tickets to our event through our Link In Bio or through our websites Events page. I look forward to seeing you at the event and working together to support WomenCan and the incredible work they do.
